What is Europe’s Famous Hostel?
Let’s start at the beginning, what or who is Europe’s Famous Hostel? And what is the reason that their approval is reason enough to trust the hostel you have just discovered.
Europe’s Famous Hostel is an association that aims to provide accommodation in a sustainable way, because they always put the environment first, right next to your well-being.
In addition, your getaway and stay should be fun, an experience worth remembering and repeating.
The association is made up of 50 hostels from all over Europe and Israel and is run completely independently of the big names in the industry, relying on each other.
This absence of big brands or companies that may control several hostels ensures that there is no corporate compromise, assuring the customer that the Europe’s Famous Hostel seal is synonymous with quality.
In order to receive the distinction and be part of Europe’s Famous Hostel, the hostel must have an enviable location, a real commitment to the environment and a constant search for progress and innovation.
Being part of Europe’s Famous Hostel is synonymous with advantages both at business and user level, as customers benefit from the fact that hostels from all over Europe share experiences, data, knowledge and trends in a market as lively and dynamic as ours.
History of Europe’s Famous Hostel
Don’t think that this project is something new, nothing could be further from the truth. This idea was born as a more humble and smaller concept, but always with the aspiration to achieve its ultimate goal: sustainability, quality and fun for the customer.
As we have already mentioned, the idea was born in 1995 and it was quite clear; to provide the client with the best possible experience with cheap, quality and very well located accommodation in the city where the hostel is located. And that is how this alliance gave birth to what is known as ‘The Famous Five’.
The collaboration was very satisfactory and in 2001 they decided to make several changes. The first was the name, this was the moment when they changed their name to what we know today; Europe’s Famous Hostels. The second was to open the doors to more members.
In addition to the fifty hostels that the association has today, there are a large number of collaborating companies and brands that strengthen and increase the prestige of Europe’s Famous Hostels.
This is nothing more than a response to a demand that continues to grow, within a sector with more and more followers and customers who know what they want, who are looking for the best and who know that by going hand in hand with Europe’s Famous Hostels, they will find their home in dozens of cities all over Europe.
Maverick City Lodges Hostel as a part of Europe’s Famous Hostel
Europe’s Famous Hostels sets the standard for quality hostels to be considered excellent. Finding the right balance between perfect location, comfort, first class facilities and great atmosphere at a good price is no easy task.
So when a hostel becomes part of this prestigious and important association, you know that you are entering a place of great quality, as well as being an achievement for the hostel.
And this is what is happening with Maverick Downtown. Becoming the sole representative of both Budapest and the rest of Hungary is no easy task, but how good it feels to see the result of a job well done.
The efforts of many people are rewarded in this incredible collective achievement that would not have been possible without the hard work of everyone at Maverick Lodges and the fantastic people who said they would make our facilities their home and shared their experience with us.
What´s Eco-Wanderer?
Within the whole effort and philosophy of Europe’s Famous Hostels, the Eco Wanderer Award stands out. This campaign, promoted in collaboration with Eurail, is known and recognised at a European level thanks to its commitment to sustainability.
Enjoying an experience as enriching as travelling should not cause an impact on nature, and if it does, then travelling is not as enriching or complete.
So how can we find out what the cost of our trip is? If you log on to eco.famoushostels.com, you can calculate the impact your trip will have on nature by travelling by train instead of by plane and the CO2 reduction that this means.
These are the kind of experiences that turn a simple getaway into a fulfilling and sustainable experience. Here is the list of hostels and guesthouses included in the Eco-Wanderer campaign:
