Budapest Wine Bar Tour
When you hear of establishment called DiVino Bazilika, you begin torealize you’re in for a fun wine-lover’s adventure. There is no entry fee, and as a fun extra, wines from the program’s highlighted wine region are sometimes discounted. Go around to explore wine bars and meet fellow wine connoisseurs and makers!
Margaret Island Open-Air Theater
Fancy watching the ballet play of Romeo and Juliet? Listening to Matteo Bocelli, Chico and the Gypsies or Daniel Lozakovich? You can do all this at the Margaret Island Open-Air Theater in the heart of Budapest, on the cutest and best-loved island of the city by an ancient water tower, and close to the even more ancient St. Margaret Monastery Ruins. Musicals, dance shows and theatrical performances are usually on the program, from opera through comedies and world-famous musicians.

Festive Book Week – Ünnepi Könyvhét
Do you have a Hungarian author whose books you love? (Hint: Janos Terey? Laszlo Garaczi? Gyorgy Ferdinandy?) Have your book signed, and discover new favorites at the biggest celebration of Hungarian books, at Vörösmarty (close to Váci street and the Danube) and Vigadó Square.
Pro tip: The best place to buy contemporary or classic Hungarian literature in English is a small bookstore near St. Stephen’s Basilica. It’s called Bestsellers, at 11 Október 6. Street. You can start with Istvan Orkeny’s mid-20th century One-Minute Stories for a short but deep and absurd dive into the crazy turns of history in the region and how they came to shape the daily life of ordinary people.
Events, activities and festivals in July in Budapest 2026
In July, your suitcase is much the same as it was in June, although you’ll have to worry less about the mackintosh and occasional showers and more about the hottest hours. So don’t forget your water bottle and comfortable shoes before you start any of these events.
This July is packed with new things to do, lots of outdoor activities to make the most of the fantastic weather in Budapest, and plenty of music to while away the hours dancing and enjoying yourself; from commercial to local music with a lot of talent.
Festivals and music in Budapest 2026
At the beginning of July the Kolorádó festival arrives setting the pace for the whole national music scene. Great vibes, music and nature to start the summer as you deserve. One of the biggest attractions of this festival is not only the music but also the disconnection from the world. Here, in the middle of nature, there is no reception, no internet, just fun, dancing and music.
The Katlan Festival starts on the 11th and brings you the best national electronic music for four days. And to make it even more interesting, tell us, how many festivals have you been to that take place in a cave? Here you’ll be able to start that counter, which I’m sure is at zero.
But if you’re not into electronic music, but you are into music that has marked an era, dancing and an impressive sound and light show, do yourself a favour and go and see Jennifer Lopez’s impressive concert.
The Bronx artist is coming to Budapest to turn it upside down with the hits of a lifetime, mixing beats and making you live a unique experience. Save the date; on 20 July 2025 you have a date in Budapest.
We continue with the music but we slow down, calm down and let ourselves be carried away by all the magic of classical music in a unique setting that you are sure to know if you are visiting Budapest; the Vajdahunyad Castle.
The Vajdahunyad Castle Summer Music Festival 2025 brings the masters of classical music back to life, creating a unique atmosphere thanks to this unbeatable location.
Széchenyi Thermal Bath
The Széchenyi Spa is a real treat, and no matter when you read this sentence, no matter what time of the year it is. But in July, in the middle of summer, it is even more lively and full of events.
At Széchenyi Spa you can do almost anything, and its events calendar is full of good ideas and activities that you won’t be able to refuse. As well as being open as normal during the day, we recommend you take a look at their website to see what’s on during the summer evenings.
From the famous Sparty parties, with live DJs and entertainment while you dance in the outdoor pools, to their open-air cinema nights. Also, don’t forget to check out their theme parties and spa night, where they all stay open late into the night.
Events, activities and festivals in August 2026 in Budapest
Jaleo, there is a lot of jaleo in Budapest. Summer is always full of things to see and do, in fact we have had to divide it by months. And we’re about to do it by weeks, so keep an eye out.
Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix 2026
We are going to start the month with full adrenaline, living an experience as unique as a Formula 1 race. We are going to the Hungaroring circuit from the 1st to the 3rd of August.
The Hungarian Grand Prix is one of the cheapest and most accessible on the calendar. Its prices, its proximity to Budapest and the great atmosphere in the grandstand make it a spectacle to be experienced whether you are a big fan of the Formula 1 Grand Prix or not.
Sziget Festival 2026
One of the most popular, best known and fastest growing festivals in Europe is Sziget Festival, which visits us this year from 6 to 11 August with a line-up that will make you fall in love, because whether you are a fan of pop, rock, house, what difference does it make?
Sziget is thinking of all music lovers and is bringing great international artists such as Post Malone, Armin Van Buuren and Shawn Mendes.
Balaton Lake
Don’t miss anything in Budapest, and we’re not just talking about monuments in the city or tasting goulash. It goes beyond that, and beyond that, there is Lake Balaton.
A true paradise on earth, and just north of Budapest. Enjoy stunning beaches, including restaurants serving all kinds of food and picture-perfect sunsets, a fantastic party scene, music festivals and even wineries. Can you think of a better place to escape to for a couple of days? That’s right, because the moment you go, you’ll want to come back.
St. Stephen’s Day
Another advantage of travelling to Budapest in the middle of August is that you can experience one of its biggest days, St. Stephen’s Day. It commemorates the creation of the country under the reign of its first king, Stephen.
August 20th is the country’s big day, and everyone celebrates this special day with dozens of events all over the country, with Budapest being the absolute epicentre. Take to the streets and enjoy the gastronomy, the atmosphere and all the activities the city has to offer.
