Best Rooftops in Budapest 2024

, 17-07-2024

You've probably already seen Hungary's capital from Budapest's best sights and monuments; you've climbed up to Fisherman's Bastion to admire the city, been to the Parliament, the second largest in the world, to see the Danube up close and, of course, bathed in one of Hungary's best spas

But now we come to offer you a new approach to the city. Imagine being able to enjoy the best views of Budapest at night, while enjoying a cocktail under the stars.

Join us on our route through the best rooftops and terraces of Budapest, where you can visit several different atmospheres, but with one thing in common; a beautiful city at your feet.

Best Rooftops in Budapest 2024

Maverick Urban Lodge Budapest

Lónyay utca 31

We start our list with one of the most casual and coolest terraces in the city. On the rooftop of Maverick Urban Lodge Budapest you'll be sharing drinks and good times.

Full of people looking for a good time and with one of the best locations in Budapest, leave your dinner jacket in your room and go upstairs to enjoy one of the chilliest atmospheres in the capital.

Get ready to meet people and have a few laughs.

Liz and Chain Sky Lounge

Apáczai Csere János u. 4

Halfway between the Chain Bridge and the Elisabeth Bridge, Erzsébet híd, the rooftop Liz and Chain Sky Lounge is a rooftop terrace with one of the best views in the city.

From the Pest side you will have the beauty of the Buda Castle right in front of you. During the day the views are incredible, but when the sun goes down it seems that the city dresses up to give us a completely different point of view.

A relaxed atmosphere, perfect for choosing one of the many cocktails or simply ordering a local craft beer and enjoying a good chat.

Fisherman’s Bastion – Halászbástya Étterem

Budapest Budai Vár, Halászbástya – Északi Híradástorony, 1014

Once you've been to the Pest side, wonder what the city looks like from Buda? Head to one of the city's most iconic landmarks to find out.

This luxury restaurant has one of the most beautiful terraces in the whole country. Between the seven towers of the castle you will find the Margaret Terrace, where you will have a panoramic view of Buda and Pest.

We recommend booking in advance. Although this advice applies to all rooftops, this is one of the most beautiful places in the city and one of the most romantic restaurants in Budapest.

Solid

Királyi Pál utca 4

We change the register and visit one of the most popular rooftops for brunch. And if you've never had brunch and you're on holiday, it's about time you tried it.

From the heart of the old town you can enjoy this rooftop at any time of the year thanks to its glazing. Its décor and design make it a more elegant place to visit, but that doesn't make it any less cozy.

The service is fantastic and it's a great place to eat and drink from a wide range of options.

High Note SkyBar

Hercegprímás utca 5

Next to Erzsébet Square and with wonderful views of the Ferris wheel and St. Stephen's Basilica right in front of you, you'll want to spend the evening on either of its two panoramic terraces.

One of the best rooftops in Budapest, it offers elegance and beauty wherever you look. From the beautiful décor, with lots of glass and open spaces, to unique views and a wide selection of beers, wines and signature cocktails.

If you want to go one step further in sophistication, and go somewhere classy, this High Note SkyBar should definitely be on your must-visit list.

Intermezzo Roof Terrace

Hold u. 3. Hotel President

Stop by this rooftop to enjoy one of the best places to watch the sunset. Don't miss it as the sun sets between Budapest's characteristic coloured tiles.

Its 360º views range from the Parliament to St. Stephen's Basilica. The atmosphere is relaxed and invites you to order one of the many cocktails or wines on the menu.

St. Andrea Wine & Skybar

Deák Ferenc utca 5 Váci 1. Office Building Rooftop

Right in the heart of Budapest, on Vörösmarty Square, you'll find this rooftop in one of the most beautiful buildings in this area of the city.

In addition to views of Buda, Gellért Hill and the Ferris wheel, St. Andrea Wine & Skybar offers a wide, varied and complete selection of drinks, including an impressive wine cellar with some of the best wines in the region.

Cocktails are another of its strong points, and although it is not a place to go exclusively to eat, it has a great kitchen with some very elaborate and high quality dishes.

Cortile Sky Bar & Pool

1066 Budapest, Dessewffy u. 14

How about this: Pool, rooftop with fantastic views and cocktails - are you in?

Cortile Sky Bar & Pool offers what it promises and much more. In addition to its 15-meter infinity pool, it has a wide range of drinks on offer, from elaborate signature cocktails to wines and beers.

Remember to call and try to book and check out their website, as it may coincide with a private event. Be sure to bring your swimming costume and a desire to have a great time in one of the most fun atmospheres in the city.

The Sky Garden Rooftop Terrace

Podmaniczky utca 45

From mid-spring until the end of summer, one of the most charming spots in the city is open. A rooftop decorated like a large garden for a pleasant summer evening.

It is not the closest rooftop to places like the Danube and Buda Castle or monuments like St. Stephen's Basilica, although it is one of the best atmospheres in Budapest.

The décor, vibes and staff are exceptional and all make for a more pleasant visit than you might think.
