Budapest Spring Festival (Budapesti Tavaszi Fesztivál) - April 5 - April 22

Palma, Ivan 22-03-2019

Some people just hop on a plane to Budapest to explore – and will want to do the research once they are setled in their hostel room. But the Budapest Spring Festival is the kind of event that draws a lot of tourists who very specifically come for this attraction.

The Spring Festival is the largest and best-known arts festival that Budapest offers. You’ll love it if you have a thing for classical music, jazz, world music or dance, theatre and the visual arts. A true trademark event for the city, the festival attracts a large art-loving international crowd each year.

Let us walk you through the highlights – feel free to turn to Maverick staff with any questions about the festival or other cool events in the city. It’s a really international event, so expect to meet new friends not just from Hungary but all around the region!

Over 100 spring events in Budapest

The 19th Budapest Spring Festival takes place between April 5 – April 22, at venues that are worth checking out even if you’re in town on other dates: to name the most important ones, Müpa Budapest and the Liszt Academy, Budapest Music Center, Uránia National Film Theatre, Budapest Jazz Club and Akvárium. So taking part involves a culture tour of the city, in the central district and its surroundings.

In total, around forty venues offer over one hundred events around town. In special focus this year are Franz Liszt as well as Russian culture: Prokofiev’s Cinderella is performed by the Ballet Company of the Mariinsky for example. If you also want to explore the gastronomy, use our Budapest food guide – otherwise enjoy the arts!

Hostel TIP: Maverick City Lodge a great choice if you want to be close to the festival and right in the heart of the city.
