Live music in Budapest

Live music in Budapest

Palma, Ivan 31-05-2023

Summer and outdoor drinks call for music. That is why we looked around to see what is going on in the city on the live music front. We have found some crazy good stuff, so it is high time to get into some summer-time music fun!

The Akvárium Club Terrace -  Attuned to the evening party

(1051 Budapest, Erzsébet square 12. - https://akvariumklub.hu/en/)

The Akvárium Klub Terasz and the surrounding Erzsébet tér and Deák tér are the biggest and perhaps the best-known meeting places in the city center. Every night, thousands of young people gather here, drink and talk in the park or on the steps of the club. A cool terrace place with an event room, a bistro restaurant, live music and concerts of popular domestic and foreign bands, plus an authentic space with a glass-bottom pool. A diverse experience of food, drinks, dance and music.

Raqpart - Classy, everyday madness in the neighborhood of the Danube

(1056 Budapest, Belgrád rkprt. - http://www.raqpart.hu/en/)

Their motto: "This summer will be longer than you think"! This open-air bar terrace (just next to the Pest-side bridgehead of the Chain Bridge) has one of the most beautiful panoramas of the city, with the Buda Castle, Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion combo in the background. It feels so much better to sip your summer lemonade in this area - an excellent choice for a light afternoon chill. As for the food and drink selection: you can order real gourmet dishes, such as the Hungarian platter, the Angus burger or the Caesar salad with shrimp; the cocktails are light and exciting.

Szimpla Kert - The first and one of the most popular ruin bars of Budapest

(1075 Budapest, Kazinczy u. 14. - https://szimpla.hu/)

The legendary Szimpla Kert is one of the oldest, most complex and famous ruin pubs in the city. This exceptional place has a program for every day of the week: concerts, parties, bicycle rental, exhibitions, local's club, backyard market and other cultural events. The regular audience consists mainly of foreigners, although due to the concerts, you will also meet several locals.

The Budapest Park - Europe's largest entertainment venue

(1095 Budapest, Fábián Juli square 1. - https://www.budapestpark.hu/en)

From late spring to early fall a permanent outdoor festival venue and a cultural space. Since 2012 Budapest Park has been encouraging everyone to leave reality behind and have some memorable experience at a concert by an alternative Hungarian band, a foreign performer or an after-party. The place is huge (11.000 sqm) and if you arrive on time, you can also be eyewitness of the annually renewed visual elements, an exhibition or occasionally some art performance.

Sziget Festival - The Island of Freedom

(1033 Budapest, Óbudai sziget - https://szigetfestival.com/en/)

One of the largest cultural and music festivals of Europe, organised every August in the northern part of Budapest, just 20 minutes from the city centre. Beside the main stream of world famous musicians (in 2023 Billie Ellish, David Guetta, Imagine Dragons - just to name a few), hundreds of performers, theater, dance and circus, the most exciting food and drink options are all waiting to be discovered. Six days, 60 locations, countless performers and the opportunity for an unforgettable summer.

So pack your bag, book your flight tickets and your accommodation and pop over to Europe's new party capital.
